*Students must meet criteria in
any one of the three areas of assessment. Students who score below criteria in all three
areas of the ASSET/COMPASS test will be referred to the Adult Basic Education (ABE)
program. These students will remain in the ABE program until their skill level has
improved as indicated by retesting.

Students without a high school diploma or GED certificate are
required to meet ability- to-benefit status by achieving or exceeding the minimum scores
on each subtest of either the ASSET or COMPASS in a single testing experience.
If the
student does not achieve or exceed all three required scores on a single administration,
to be eligible for ability-to-benefit status the student must retake the complete
instrument (using an alternate form of ASSET; COMPASS automatically generates a different
form for each administration) and pass all three subareas on that administration. Passing
scores from one administration cannot be combined with passing scores from another
administration.
