7.02 Excessive Absence Warnings

Procedure for Warning Students of Excessive Absences

  1. The instructor sends a Warning Notice (See Warning Notice 10.06) to the student's advisor when a student is in danger of becoming excessively absent.

  2. The advisor calls the student to discuss his or her absence from the classroom.

  3. If the advisor is unable to contact the student by phone within a day, he or she completes the warning notice and sends it to the Advisement Center.

  4. A warning letter (See Excessive Absence Warning Letter 10.06) is sent to the student, and copies of the warning notice are sent to the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services' office and to the instructor.

Procedure for Notifying Students of EW Grades

  1. The instructor will send a Notice of Excessive Absence to the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services' office.

  2. The Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services will send the Notice of Excessive Absence to the student, place one copy in the student's file, and send another copy to the Director of Advisement and Assessment.

  3. The Director of Advisement and Assessment will give the copy to the student's advisor who will place the copy into the student's advising file.
