3.05 Guaranteed Transfer of Credit Policy
Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas guarantees that course credit earned at PCCUA will transfer to
a four-year college or university. In the event that course credit which has been
guaranteed will not transfer, PCCUA will refund tuition paid for that course. The following
restrictions, however, apply to the guarantee of transfer credit.
- Since each college determines individually what courses are acceptable for transfer, the
student must know what he or she plans to major in at the receiving institution and must
know to which four-year college he or she plans to transfer. The transfer guarantee is
valid only for that major at that particular four-year college. If the student changes
majors or decides to transfer to another college, the guarantee of transfer credit is no
longer binding.
- The student must see an advisor at least two weeks before registration to select courses
which will transfer. The advisor will use transfer agreements on file to determine
transferability. (Master Articulation Agreement
11.01) If there is a
question of transferability, the advisor will consult the transfer institution.
- The transfer agreement must be signed by the student, the advisor, and the Director of
Advisement. Only those courses listed on the transfer agreement are guaranteed.
- In the event that a guaranteed course will not transfer, PCCUA will refund tuition for the
course not to exceed the per-semester hour tuition in effect at the time the course was
taken. The student must provide PCCUA with a written statement from an appropriate official
at the transfer institution indicating that the course is not acceptable for transfer into
the agreed upon major.
- Excluded from the transferability guarantee are SOS 102 (Student Orientation),
developmental courses which the student may be required to take in order to place into
college-level courses, any course in which a grade less than "C" is earned, and
any course not specifically listed on the transfer contract.
