5.02 Returning Student Registration Advisement

1. Access the student's on-line transcript. Students whose transcript is not on-line should be sent to the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services' office for a hard copy.
2. Review the student's remaining graduation requirements.
3. Review the semesters during which the remaining required courses will be offered.
4. Plan the next semester's program of courses. Check for any conflicts in scheduling classes, courses with limited sections which may close early, and other problems.
5. Complete a Course Recommendation Form. Keep one copy and give the two remaining copies to the student, one to keep and one to give to the schedule preparer.
6. During fall registration week, send the student to the schedule preparer. During pre-registration, the advisor may also build the schedule. Explain to the student the steps necessary to complete registration.
7. Place the Course Recommendation Form and Graduation Checklist in the student's advising file.
