This 2 credit hour course follows
the USDOT National Standard Curriculum and includes 40 hours of first
responder training. It is designed for firefighters, law enforcement
officers, and industrial emergency responders who stabilize a victim until
the arrival of community EMS providers. Emphasis is placed on recognition
and understanding of life-threatening medical emergencies and traumatic
injuries. Skills taught include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use
of an automated defibrillator (AED), management of oxygen therapy, as well
as spinal immobilization and splinting. |
