2005
Professional Development for adjunct faculty was
held in Arkansas County in the fall of 2005. Training sessions for
creating a syllabus and using the campus connect was provided.
Faculty were also given information regarding policy updates,
contract information, as well as general computer use tips for the
college.
Adjunct and new full-time faculty members participated in
training sessions during the fall of 2004. The DeWitt, Helena, and Stuttgart
campuses hosted Adjunct Faculty Training on various dates in August 2004 and the
Helena Campus held a New Faculty Training session for all new faculty during the
College's registration period.
Each training session (adjunct and new faculty) included
information in faculty development, resources, forms, policies, and procedures
as well as information regarding the assessment of student learning process. The
professional development web page was introduced which contains valuable
information for each faculty member (see
www.pccua.edu/professional_development). The College's assessment procedures
were also introduced and information about the assessment webpage (www.pccua.edu/assessment)
was provided.
The New Faculty Training also included several guest speakers
who provided information about college benefits as well as important personnel
policies and procedures. An additional component of the training was a
presentation which allowed the faculty to participate in a fun and enlightening
self assessment using the metaphor of color to determine personality style and
how it relates to student learning (see
Do
Students Learn the Way We Teach?).
