Business Division
Awarded Reaffirmation of Accreditation

The Division of Business and
Information Systems at Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas
(PCCUA) has been awarded reaffirmation of accreditation for 10 years by the
Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
Speaking on behalf of the ACBSP, Douglas G. Viehland, Executive Director, said,
“Phillips College has shown its commitment to teaching excellence by
participating in the accreditation process, achieving accreditation and
continuing the process of quality improvement. This accreditation is evidence
of Phillips College’s commitment to quality business programs.
For institutions that achieve accreditation for their business schools and
programs, this attainment certifies that the teaching and learning processes
within that institution meet the rigorous educational standards established by
the ACBSP. The confirmation of accreditation by ACBSP covers a 10-year period
during which time Phillips College must continually reaffirm its quality through
quality assurance reports.
ACBSP’s mission is to establish, promote, and recognize educational practices
that contribute to the continuous quality improvement of business education
programs, teaching of business courses, and student learning outcomes in
colleges and universities throughout the United States and abroad. ACBSP was
established in 1988 and is the only business accrediting organization for both
associate and baccalaureate/graduate degree institutions. ACBSP has over 587
member institutions and is located in Overland Park, Kansas. For more
