In looking at this material be sure that you understand how concerns about religion/protecting the established church provide French kings the opportunity to put down opposition to their authority.  Be sure you understand how Louis XIV's elaborate court at Versailles was used to  control the French nobility.  Be sure you understand the threat that the Hapsburgs posed to French expansionism.
