 Success Speech

( 90 seconds to 2 minutes )

Your first speaking assignment is to be based on any success you have had during your life.

You choose which success you want to share with the class. You also must bring with you a symbol of your success.  Here are some ideas:

Graduation = class ring, diploma, GED certificate
Marriage= wedding ring, photo, marriage certificate
Sports= trophy, letter, jacket, photo, newspaper article
child= baby picture(s) birth announcement,
beauty pageant= trophy, picture, crown
hunting= award, picture, stuffed animal
drivers license= keys, actual license
car= key’s...photo

You get the idea!  Once you have chosen your success, I want you to think of three (3) key points you want to tell the class about your success.  You may want to tell 3 reasons why this success is important to you, or 3 things you had to do to achieve this success, or a combination of those or other ideas.  Now, write down the 3 ideas (3 general statements) and then give me specific support and illustration for each of your 3 general statements.  You will then have 3 Basic Message Units.

You will need to type or PRINT in all capital letters an outline for your speech.  It should adhere to the following format:
