PCCF announces new Warriors for Walt Nursing ScholarshipDec 04, 2017
The Phillips Community College Foundation (PCCF) Helena Council announces the establishment of a new scholarship at Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas-Helena.
Walter and Jayne Morris have made a gift to the PCCF to establish the Warriors for Walt Nursing Scholarship in loving memory of their grandson.
“Our family has come to admire and appreciate the compassion and professionalism nurses provide to their patients and are pleased to establish this scholarship in Walt’s memory,” said Mr. Morris.
Applicants must be residents of either Phillips County, Arkansas, or Coahoma County, Mississippi, and must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 to be eligible. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have a handicap or disability, themselves, or in their family.
The Warriors for Walt Scholarship provides $1,750 per semester for two consecutive years in order to allow recipients time to complete the Associate Degree Nursing program. Recipients of this award must also maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average in order to keep the scholarship.
“We are very proud of our nursing program and are excited that this family has chosen to remember their grandson in such a special way,” said PCCUA Vice Chancellor Rhonda St. Columbia.
