To withdraw from a Community Education non-credit course, you must call the office no later than the day before the class begins in order to receive 100% refund. If you call the day the class starts or after, no refund will be given.
Fitness Center (non-credit)
Join our Fitness Center and let us help you become a healthier person. The fitness center is open on Monday and Wednesday from 6:30-11:00 am, 12:00-12:30 pm and from 3:00-7:30 pm. Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30-9:30 am and 12:00-7:30 pm, and Friday from 6:30-11:00 am and 12:00-3:00 pm. Semester fee is $55. Full time students $25; and seniors (60 and older) $25. Seniors that registered for Fall 2016 will not be required to re-enroll until Fall 2017.
Martial Arts (credit or non-credit)
Tae Kwon Do meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 17 - April 13. Non-credit (ages 6-14) will meet from 5:30-6:30 pm, and the adult class meets from 6:30-7:30 pm. Children ages 6-14: $55; adults ages 15 and up $75 non-credit and credit is calculates as one credit hour plus PE fee.
This course will focus on passing, serving, setting and spiking. Students will learn rules and court strategy for playing volleyball. This is a 6-week course begins January 23-February 27. Cost is $30. Classes will meet from 6:30-8:00 pm on Mondays.
Creative Writing Class
This class is intended for the novice and will introduce the technical aspects and creative process of short fiction writing-beginning narrative, working with dialog, creating characters, finding an authorial voice, entering the reader. The class will culminate with an optional workshop component to allow writers to respond to each other's work. It is a 5-week workshop beginning April 4 - May 2 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The cost is $50 and is available to high school students and adults.
Tumbling & Creative Play
This is an 8-week program meeting January 18-March 8. Ages 4-7 (4:30-5:30 pm); ages 8-12 (5:30-6:30 pm); cost is $50 and held in the gym.
Wine Tasting Class
Classes meet on Wednesday, February 1 and February 15. Pre-register for both nights and receive a $20 discount. Limited space, so register early. A 24-hour notice is required for refunds. One night-$30; two nights-$50. Classes are held in the Community Room of the Fine Arts Building.
Free yoga classes on Monday or Wednesday from 7:30-9:00 am or 5:30-7:00 pm, starting January 18-April 26. Classes will meet in FA-107. Must be registered to attend.
ACT Math, English and Reading Review
Review your English, math or reading skills for the ACT Assessment Test. Workshop dates are February 1, April 1, and June 3. The national test dates are one week after each workshop. Math workshop is 8:00-11:00 am and the English/Reading workshop is 12:00-3:00 pm. Cost is $30 for one workshop and $50 for both workshops.
Dance for Children
Classes for spring start the week of January 9. Students returning from the Fall semester have the same schedule. Newcomers may enroll but WILL NOT participate in the recital. Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, and private lessons are available to students. Prices vary by age groups: Preschool 3-5 years: $80; Elementary (grades 1-2) $90; Group classes (grades 3-12) $100; Hip-Hop classes $80; Pointe $80; Advanced Jazz $80; Duet $120; and Solo $160. The spring recital will be April 22 at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm in the Lily Peter Auditorium.
Hunter Education or Boating Safety--Free
Arkansas requires anyone born after January 1, 1969, to take a Hunter Education Class and carry a certification card. Anyone born after January 1, 1986, is required to take a Boating Safety class and must also carry a certification card while operating a motorboat on Arkansas water. Register by calling Wandra Williams at (870) 338-6474, ext. 1210. Dates: TBA in local newspaper.
PCCUA's Early Childhood Education program will provide activities, fun and games for kids 12 and under. All children must be accompanies by an adult. Admission is FREE and will be held in the gym on Saturday, April 8 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Come out and enjoy an evening of adult basketball on Saturday and Sunday evenings from 4:30-7:00 pm. Classes will be January 20-April 29. Cost is $30.
