Students who participate in respective course activities and meet established course student learning outcomes but are unable to complete the ADN Program may qualify to receive the Associate of Applied Science in Health Sciences degree.

Program Goals
Students will be able to perform the following outcomes:
- Identify medical terminology, tools, and practices used in healthcare.
- Promote factors that create a culture of safety.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness/sensitivity in the healthcare setting.
- Participate in identifying potential risk and way to eliminate these risks.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team
- Collaborate with appropriate interprofessional members of the healthcare team.
- Utilize conflict resolution principles as needed.
Service
All students earning an AAS in Health Sciences are required to take general education courses. This requirement helps students attain the following student learning outcomes to:
- Explore and consider new ideas;
- Develop a sound knowledge base;
- Obtain creative and critical thinking skills;
- Network with students in other disciplines; and
- Reach their full potential as well-rounded individuals.
While opportunities for service learning are limited in a rigorous Health Sciences curriculum, students do assist with conducting health fairs, assist with mass flu immunization clinics, as well as participate in breast cancer and cardiac disease awareness programs that promote screening for early cancer detection and intervention as well as healthy behaviors to reduce the risk of cardiac disease.
