PCCUA announces new emergency communications classes in Helena and Stuttgart
Over 35 members of the Phillips County Sheriff's Department, Pafford Ambulance Service and Phillips County Office of Emergency Services participated in the kickoff of PCCUA’s Emergency Communications classes for first responders and volunteer amateur radio operators to be offered this fall at PCCUA-Stuttgart and PCCUA-Helena. The event, known as ARRL Field Day, was hosted by the Helena Amateur Radio Club which includes amateur radio operators from Arkansas and Phillips counties. The purpose was to introduce emergency communications and capabilities to first responders in case of power and cellphone system outages during a disaster. For more info about registering for these new classes, call Joe St. Columbia, Jr., at 870-338-6474 ext 1937.
