Posted Date: 9/25/24

Phillips Community College is celebrating National GEAR UP Week! GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federal grant-funded program by the United States Department of Education. The purpose of the grant is to finance programs nationally, boosting the number of disadvantaged students equipped for success in higher education.

Delta GEARUP involves a partnership with ten Arkansas school districts: Barton, Clarendon, DeWitt, Dumas, Helena-West Helena, KIPP Delta Public Schools, Lakeside, Lee County, Marvell-Elaine, and Stuttgart.

PCCUA's Delta GEAR UP program delivers strategic support to students, teachers, and parents in partner districts, fostering improved academic preparation for postsecondary education, higher attendance rates, and enhanced academic achievement, as measured by grades and test scores. Delta GEAR UP provides students services such as academic support and planning, ACT prep, college and career/job site visits, financial aid workshops, and summer programs.

To take advantage of the opportunity presented by Delta GEARUP, please email Director Tomisha Gant at tgant@pccua.edu or Assistant Director Carolyn Holloway at cholloway@pccua.edu.
