Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas (PCCUA) is proud to announce Sammie Henry as the new PCCUA Chief of Police. Henry was officially sworn into his role during a ceremony held on October 23, 2025. The event was attended by Campus officials, Mayor Joseph Whitfield, local law enforcement personnel, faculty, staff, and students.

Chief Henry began his journey at PCCUA in June 2014 as a Security Guard on the Helena Campus. In October 2023, under the leadership of Supervisor Rhonda St. Columbia, the decision was made to evolve the department from security services to a fully established police department.

Chief Henry’s vision for the PCCUA Police Department centers on proactive safety measures, enhanced community policing, and collaboration with surrounding agencies and leaders. His priorities include crime prevention initiatives, ongoing training, and fostering strong, responsive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

“I am honored to serve PCCUA in this capacity,” said Henry. “My goal is to ensure our campuses remain safe, welcoming learning environments. Through visibility, communication, and community trust, we will continue to protect and support our students every step of the way.”

With Chief Henry at the helm, PCCUA reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a secure campus environment while strengthening partnerships with local law enforcement to better serve the surrounding communities.
