Posted Date: 3/16/26

Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas (PCCUA) is proud to announce that its Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Sigma Kappa Chapter has earned Five Star Chapter recognition at the local, regional, and international levels, the highest level of achievement within the organization’s chapter development program.

The Five Star designation is awarded through the Phi Theta Kappa Five Star Chapter Development Program, a structured framework designed to strengthen chapters through intentional planning, leadership development, and member engagement. Through the program, chapter advisors and student leaders collaborate to complete a series of initiatives that promote scholarship, service, leadership, and fellowship.

By reaching the Five Star level, the Sigma Kappa Chapter has demonstrated a strong commitment to developing student leaders, creating meaningful campus and community projects, and engaging members in opportunities that support academic and personal growth. According to regional leadership, the last time the Sigma Kappa Chapter received Five Star status was in 2005.

Sigma Kappa Chapter officers include President Wesley Barringer, First Vice President Kumauri Washington, Second Vice President Mohammed Alkarsh, Secretary Aubrey Tyler, Treasurer Alexis Fickett, and Public Relations Representative Marsella Mason.

The chapter is supported by advisors who mentor and guide students throughout the year, including Charlotte Purdy (College Contact Advisor), Thomas Moss (Stuttgart), Rosary Fazende-Jones (Stuttgart), and Tracie Karkur (DeWitt).

PCCUA congratulates the Sigma Kappa Chapter for this outstanding accomplishment and for continuing to represent the college with excellence through leadership, scholarship, and service.
