Upon successful completion of the Certificate of Proficiency in Law Enforcement, students will be able to:

  1. Identify the structure and functions of the criminal justice system, including the roles of law enforcement, courts, and corrections at the local, state, and federal levels.
  2. Describe fundamental legal principles relevant to law enforcement practice, including constitutional rights, due process, and ethical responsibilities.
  3. Demonstrate professional communication skills appropriate for law enforcement and public safety environments, including written, oral, and interpersonal communication.
  4. Recognize ethical standards and professional conduct expectations applicable to law enforcement and public safety support roles.
  5. Apply basic principles of safety awareness and situational response consistent with established public safety guidelines and workplace policies.
